| The line-up for this year's Brighton Festival has been announced, with hundreds of artists set to perform and thousands of people expected to head down to the south coast. Starting on May 3rd and running until May 25th, the festival will feature theatre, dance, music, books and debate and will showcase the best of the city's thriving cultural scene. Among the big names set to appear in the festival are Jarvis Cocker, Blur's Alex James, Mark E Smith and Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys, all of who will be hosting literary, rather than musical, event. For music fans, the festival will also feature the world-famous saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis, as well as classical concerts to be held by the Tokyo String Quartet and the Philharmonic Orchestra. Other acts will include the Ballet National De Marseille, the National Ballet of China and world music star Nitin Sawhney. The city's strong arts and culture scene is regularly cited as one of the principal reasons behind the continued popularity of Brighton among renters, with many opting to rent a place on the coast and commute to work in London. ![]() |
