Brighton as popular as ever among renters

Demand for rental accommodation in Brighton is as strong as ever, local property experts have reported.

The huge number of renters is driven by a large population of students as well as growing numbers of professionals moving to the city from across the country in search of a more laid-back lifestyle and cheaper rental accommodation than nearby London, according to Brighton & Hove Family Housing.

"Brighton has a strong buy-to-let market because there are two universities here and numerous other colleges and language schools and this helps the rental market," said Charlie Snell, the company's director.

"Also, people who want to move here usually rent first, just to test the water, so the rental market is extremely strong."

Mr Snell added that 70 per cent of people in Brigton believe property prices in the city will remain steady or even rise over the coming year, thereby further boosting the number of people renting. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18448669-ADNFCR
