Best of Bond bounces in to Barbican

The Barbican has announced that it is set to host a 'Best of Bond' weekend on 7th-8th June to celebrate the centenary of the birth of writer Ian Fleming.

In March, an extensive poll was carried out to determine the top five James Bond films of all time, with the top four winners being screened during the weekend.

The results have been released, and Goldfinger took top honours, closely followed by From Russia With Love, Casino Royale and Dr. No.

Her Majesty's Secret Service, which will be released digitally next year, came in fifth place.

The screenings represent a unique opportunity for younger Londoners who may have only seen the first Bond films on television, rather than in the more dramatic widescreen format.

Such an extravaganza also shows why London is such a popular place to live among young professionals.

As an extra touch, the Barbican confirmed that it will be serving Vodka Martinis (shaken not stirred, of course) before the Goldfinger showing.

The 21 Bond films stretch across 44 years and six different Bonds - Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moor, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

Tickets for the screenings cost £8.50. For more information, call 020 7638 8891 or visit www.barbican.org.uk/bestbond/home.
